Changes to Statutory Redundancy Pay
From 25 September 2019, the cap on the value of a week’s pay for the purpose of calculating statutory redundancy pay under Jersey law will increase from the current cap of £740 per week to £770, an increase of 4%.
In the event of redundancy, employees in Jersey with a minimum of 2 years’ qualifying service are entitled to a redundancy payment of one week’s pay (subject to the above cap) per year of service, in addition to any statutory or contractual notice.
Jersey law on redundancy is set out in Part 6A of the Employment (Jersey) Law 2003.
The right to statutory redundancy pay is separate from any rights/claims arising in relation to the fairness of the dismissal under Part 7 of the Employment (Jersey) Law 2003.
